Republic of Tea Canisters

On Meredith's blog Like Merchant Ships she had a guest blogger Michelle from Scribbit today who posted about how she hates to throw away McCann's Irish Oatmeal cans. She had a lovely picture of one with an arrangement of tulips, I believe. There were also fourteen suggestions on what to do with them. I feel the same way about the Republic of Tea canisters. Anyone got any good suggestions for using them? I thought about using them for notions on a shelf, but then my mind kind of goes blank.

How about a small "sew on the go" kit? Should be room for a spool of thread, scissors, some small bits to sew. I have a creative memories tin that I use for portable sewing. I even put two little magnets in to hold the needles and pins.
Or, since you have a set, how about things that come in sets, buttons, office supplies, spices....

Hi Candace,
Lovely to visit - gorgeous whimsy!
You are using that camera like a professional - nice to get an inside view of where one is living.
Best wishes again - Lurline/Australia.

Your tea tins are so pretty. I can see why you wouldn't want to just toss them out. How about dry flower arrangements. Maybe some storage containers in your sewing room. Rulers, scissors and pencils come to mind.

Oh Candace, how I am ever going to get any sewing done when I keep finding wonderful new blogs to visit! You've given me two great new links to look at. I've got no more ideas for your tea canisters, I'm too busy wishing I'd seen them in the UK.

I enjoyed browsing your blog- great pictures. Your mother was a lovely lady. I'm sorry for your loss. Yes, I cherish the time I have with my father.

Those tins are wonderful and I can see what you don't want to get rid of them. They would work good in a kitchen grouping and also I could see them used in your sewing/work room. Wonderful blog. I will be adding you to my list!

I like having those kinds of tins too. I have a couple that are rectangular that candy came in, and I've used mine for a take-and-go sewing kit. I have the usual sewing notions, a small rotary cutter, extra needles, thread snip, a few spools of thread, and so on, and I can just grab the tin and go out the door with some handwork. Your collections were fun to see!
