The backs however, are all matching. Just a solid fabric, but I think I would call them reversible. Pretty fast not that good job. I decided yesterday afternoon to make them, and finished about 20 minutes ago. It's about 4:40am now. I did take a few hour rest in the middle. Kim of Kim's Big Quilting Adventure is doing Scrap Basket Sunday, so if you'd like to see some scrappy projects go here . She also asks what constitutes a scrap to us. In this case, it was leftover orphan blocks and bits and pieces. Also, leftover bindings, but I must confess that I went to yardage this time for the backs as time was an issue. |

Oh - perfect! Its' great to use up orphan blocks, love the piano keys to tie them together.
You must have channeled your project through cyberspace. As my son told me at dinner last night that it was time to wash his placemat, I thought, "it's time to make some more placemats." While sitting at my quilt guild the idea of using all those extra blocks hit me. You know what they say about great minds!
Did you say 4.40 am!!! Can't you sleep? The placemats may not match as such but the colours are similar and the piano keys tie them together perfectly.
I am like Amanda, above...4:40 am? You were determined to get them finished!
I agree with her, also, in that they all look great together. The piano keys do tie them together. I think you did a wonderful job!
I, too, am participating in Kim's Scrap Basket Sunday. I have my deffinition of what a scrap is in my post.
I love those piano key-mats! I am a pianist (taught for 40+ years) and want to do something similar, but am always stymied by those darn black keys (they're not that much fun in real life, either hahaha), Love your using orphan blocks for the placemats. Julierose
Oh those are wonderful! They turned out great!
Love your place mats... suddenly mine seem very boring!
What a fun project! With the piano keys, they seem like modern art--cool!
