Soscrappy's First Blue Saturday

This is 12 of the 30 string blocks that I'll need to do another lap sized Roll Roll Cotton Boll from Bonnie Hunter of Quiltville.  I thought that since it's been put away awhile and Angela from Soscrappy is having blue this time for her Rainbow Scrap Challenge that maybe it would be the kick in the behind that I need to get back to working on my string blocks.  Unlike most quilters, I don't like to do string blocks much, although I love the looks of them in a quilt.

These are some of the leftovers that made me decide to go for another one.  This one will be pinks, blues, browns and from the looks of things, some greens.

The little HST's will be light blues and dark blues, and there will also be some dark blues in the blocks, it's been so long that I'm not sure where at this point.  If you want to see some more blue from quilter-bloggers who actually know what they are doing, Soscrappy has a linky.  Click on this.

It can be hard to remember where you left off in a long forgotten project. It would be easier if projects got put away on purpose, then we would all make a nice little note to self and gather everything together. It never seems to work out that nicely though and the pieces can get all scattered. Strings do look fabulous in the finished quilts, and they use up so many odd bits.

Your string block look great. I started RRCB this year and have now decided to make it a row bigger so that it is square. I have enjoyed the string blocks but I have to be in the mood. I plan to work on my extra strings next week. I like to get out 10 or so at a time and chain a long.

Your blue string blocks are very pretty, I haven't tried strings yet.

I'm sure your string blocks will be great once they're assembled in the quilt. When I'm doing them I can never believe that they're going to look any good once they're finished, but they usually do.

I love string blocks. Interesting how the blocks look good individually and GREAT all together. Usually a riot of wonderful colors.

I have been remiss in not visiting your blog - good grief you have been busy and I've missed all of you eye candy!!! Yikes, you've got a lovely bunch of quilts.

Your string blocks look wonderful! I too like the look of the string blocks better than actually making them. :)
Love the quilt in the bottom picture. :)
