Tucker's Big Boy Quilt

Here is the light that I talked about below, I really like it.
Tucker is my grand nephew, and I've been meaning to make him a big boy quilt for awhile, I've actually had the flimsy done for probably a year or so.   I also made pillowcases for him and his sisters (except one, who is out on her own), his is super heroes to match, and the girls are butterflies in various colors.  It'll be a surprise, hope they like them.  I am hoping to spend more time in my sewing room.  Since I moved here 2 years ago, I haven't been very happy with my living room - sewing room, but I think I have it pretty much usable.  I must have gotten spoiled, I have sewn in my bedroom, living room, and dining room in the past, but that was before I got to be a quilter.  I seem to have gotten away from simple.  There are many quilters, more gifted than I, who do amazing things with less, in less room.  Lighting has been one of the issues, and I have recently discovered a great little lamp, which helps immensely.  I got it at Walmart, Ideaworks Super Bright Portable LED Lamp With USB, I don't know how the longevity of it will be, but it uses 4 AA batteries, or has a USB cable.  It is nice and bright, can be put just where you want it, and folds down into about  the size of an old fashioned foot peddle.

Quilts and Pillowcases Received

My nieces three smallest girls with their pillowcases.  The littlest discovered they could be used for clothing, sort of.

Baby Tucker with his new quilt.
DH woke up about 3 am on Tuesday with chest pain, so we made a trip to the ER.  They admitted him, and he was there for 3 days.  He had a TEE echo and the doctor said that everything was looking better.  He still has to have another cardio cath on Tuesday, but if it still looks better his open heart surgery may be postponed indefinitely.  We are certainly hoping for the best, and appreciate all the prayers and good wishes for him.  He came home last night, and is sure enjoying being out of the hospital.  The cardiologist said he wasn't sure why, but the valves seemed to be leaking much less.

August Finish

I have my finish for August, Tucker's baby quilt.  Now I just need to get the quilt and the pillowcases for his brothers and sisters in the mail.  I have my first bow tie quilted, and the second one one-third quilted, but I'm not sure I want to finish them until the first of September.  September will be crazy, as DH will be having a heart cath and stint and heart surgery.  Don't know when yet for the cath and stint (or is it shunt), but he is scheduled to go in the hospital for the heart surgery September 18th.  It would be nice to have my September finish done the first of September.  Looking at the letter of my goal, not the spirit.

You probably already guessed that this is the back of Tucker's quilt.  It is plaid flannel, but I figure that his dad will like that, he likes flannel shirts.
PS  That's Goofy at the bottom trying to swing into the plant.

Can I Do It

I have kept to my goal thus far, of at least one finish per month.  Nothing yet for August, and it's already the 13th.  This stack will be two bow tie quilts, everything is all cut out and ready to go.  You can't see them very well, but at the bottom of the stack are the (30) 12 inch completed what I call circle bow tie blocks.  Here are 6 of them.   There is nothing done about backs yet though.  By the way, that little tool on the far left is one of my favorites.  It's just a little approximately 1 1/4 inch wide wallpaper roller, but it is also my heatless iron for doing my seams on string blocks and such.  It works pretty well.
This quilt is for Tucker, who was born a few days ago.  Since this picture, the top is a finished flimsy, the back is done, except for the label, and the binding is done.  Also, the pillowcases are completed for the siblings.   The question is, with the way that I have been working on one thing and then the other, can I finish something by the end of the month?  Can I accomplish my add on goal of finishing all three by the end of the month?   I have 2 1/2 weeks to find out.  I've already googled C'est la vie  and am practicing it, just in case.

This baby rabbit hopped out of a bush while my Grandson, Micah and I were mowing the yard yesterday.  He caught him and was going to try to keep him, but then decided he better put him back.  He was adorable though.

My grandson, Micah, is pretty adorable too, he's my birthday buddy born on my birthday, only 50 years later.  He's my daughters son, and another one of her sons is my husband's birthday buddy, born on his birthday.   These last two pictures were taken on my blackberry, so they are a little sub par, even for me.
