Flimsy's Complete and Another Project

The third of the 3 I've been working on is a complete flimsy now.  I ordered the border fabric from Hancock's of Paducah and I'm very pleased with it.  It's blackberries.  Now on to working on the backings, etc.

Yesterday we went to the local quilt shop and visited their $5.00 table.  I love the bargain areas.  On the top left is a fabric that I just liked for me, but the other four I thought would make a nice big girl quilt for my great granddaughter, Mackenzie.  She turned two in December, and really doesn't have her big girl bed yet, but she and her mom and dad are going overseas for 3 years, so I figured I could make it and send it with them.  Where they are going it can be fairly cold and I thought I'd use fleece on the back.  Has anyone quilted a quilt with a batting and fleece?  How did you like how it turned out?   Unless I find a different pattern that I want to try, I may make this another leader ender quilt and fussy cut the blocks on the top right to use for the alternate block centers.
Mackenzie got her bangs cut and I think she looks even more adorable.  She's a cutie if I do say so myself.  She has one of those little faces that just make you feel happy to gaze at.

Mackenzie's Rocker Cushions and Small Quilt to Match

My daughter and I worked on these together also.

These pieced backings are a lot more trouble as they are like a puzzle, but I think this one is kind of cute, and it's all leftover flannels so is soft and cuddly.  the cushions are also pretty cushy, 4 layers of fabric and 4 layers of batting.  The seat has a layer of carpet liner to keep it in place, but it gives it a little more cush, too.   I like the feeling that I was able to use bits of this and that to come up with something that is also cute.  It is all leftovers except the cushion fabrics and the quilt front.

Another Quickie Strippie

This is for Mackenzie, who will be 2 in December, I don't think she'll have to wait that long for these though.  The teddie bear fabric matches her rocking chair cushions that are in progress, also.  Like Dominics, this will be about 42 by 42 inches.

This is the scrappy flannel back.  It is 'different' but cozy.   Again, piecing the back and the batting take longer each, than the front.  I'll also use scrappy binding.  Again, also, these are extra fun because my daughter and I are making them together for her grandchildren and my great grandchildren.  It is a labor of love with someone I love, so very special.

New Rocker

Her birthday isn't until December, when she will be two, but the rocking chair is an early present.  Isn't she adorable, even with bed head, lol.  I think she needs some cushions, a pillow and a little quilt.

Misc.

My grandson was having a boys night out with his brothers, playing cards and watching fights, so DH and I got to have a visit from his wife and their baby, our great-granddaughter.

As you can see, she is a cutie, and is 8 months old already. She didn't smile at me once while I had the camera and was taking pictures, but she was all smiley most of the time while they visited.

This morning I got to see my son and my youngest granddaughter. We took a class together at a nursery making a hanging cone basket. I didn't get a picture yet, but will try to include one in my next post. It is hanging in a tree in my backyard. Unfortunately, it tipped over in the car on the way home and we need to take the car to the carwash and use their vacumn.
I have the top done for my Crazy Mom Quilts white quiltalong quilt, now on to the borders and then a back and binding to make, and then my "favorite" basting. DH was kind enough to hold it up for me.

I ordered some thread from J Hittle, they have very good prices, also got the bobbin holder from them, the bobbins and scissors are from Allbrands, and the fabric is from Hancock's of Paducah. My last 2 orders from Hancock's have been complete, maybe they have a better inventory system now, used to be if I got half I was lucky. It was a fun mail week. Nothing else coming now, although I am using up all my Kona Snow for the nine patch quilt, and may order a small stock of it if I find a bargain.

Mackenzie is So excited about Grandma Wragg's Quilt

Day before yesterday, we had my daughter, my grandson Nathan and his wife Marcy, the baby, and my other grandson Micah over for lunch. We had a really nice visit and Nathan mentioned that he liked my green and purple quilt, so I gave it to them. This little video was on Marcy's facebook today with the caption "Mackenzie is So excited about Grandma Wragg's quilt". I thought that it was really cute, and wanted to share. She is such a little cutie and has a really sweet personality.

Unfortunately, I couldn't figure out how to bring the video over from facebook, but above is a link for theose who are on facebook. The video is cute, she kicks her little legs repeatedly and then feels the quilt, and then does it all over again 4 or 5 times in the 30 second video.
