August OKCMQ BOM

No skating by this month,  Each block was a little time consuming.  I see that I was careless with some of my points, but I still like the blocks.

July OKCMQ Blocks

This was the hard one (in comparison to the other one), that's my excuse for the not so good points.  I like it though, it reminds me of envelopes.

And the easy one, just 3 pieces in a 12 inch block, and I got a really big bonus triangle.  The block is supposed to be a letter "J".

It's Picking Up

The sewing front has picked up a little.  This is the July Craftsy 2013 BOM.  It's a big block, 17 1/2 by 18 1/2 inches.  I think that this may be the center pattern for a baby quilt for my newest great-grandbaby due in October.  It would be cute in little girly baby fabrics, I think.  Maybe some bow ties around it as a start.

The year is over half finished, and projects are starting to come together.  Hope this one turns out well, some of my color choices are a bit odd, but I wanted quilts that looked different from each other colorwise, too.

I have the initial cutting done for 5 or 6 blocks, and then July BOM's will be pretty much finished.   I'd like to do a dresser top cover for the other dresser in our room as part of the RSC for July, but don't know if I'll get time.  We have out of state company due and even though at this point they aren't staying with us, I hope to get to be included in some of the festivities.  It's my niece and her 8 children.  They range from almost 2 to going into the second year of college.  Quite a family.

BOM's Caught up for Now, Yay!

It's coming along.
The June Craftsy BOM 2013 is wrinkly but done.  I don't think that y seams will ever be my favorite.  I don't worry a whole lot about a few wrinkles, as I aspire to the crinkly look in my quilts, and I figure that after washing they'll blend right in.  I do need to improve my pressing though.  Now, I'm a little ahead of the game, I can relax tomorrow and go with my daughter and grandson to see my brothers and my nephew, I'm looking forward to a nice day.  Monday will be for the Deck-ade the Halls block and the rest of the month I can finally start on the barns and table topper for my husbands dresser.  Can't believe I'm finally caught up for now.  I have no self control, I also bought the pattern for another project.  The Flower Patch Quilt Along, the pattern is Flower Patch from Green Fairy Quilts.   There's a Flickr group, too.  It's here.
June Block A, thank goodness these were easy ones.  Craftsy BOM June 2012

Block B, blurry, sorry.

I have 18 blocks now toward my Queen sized quilt from the Sugar Block Club and Craftsy BOM 2012.  These are the latest 3.

A Little Progress and Plans

I pretty much wasted 2 days watching quilting videos (they're like potato chips) and playing on the computer, but this morning I got some cutting done.  I'm ready now to start sewing on the Craftsy Re-piecing the Past, the Craftsy 2012 BOM, the OKCMQG BOM, the Sugar Block Club BOM and the Craftsy 2013 BOM.   It would be really nice if I were to have them finished by Monday and then I could concentrate on the Deck-ade the Halls step 2 and maybe have the rest of the month to concentrate on the Quilty Barn Along and making a topper for my husband's dresser.

OKCMQG Block of the Month - The Least Difficult BOM Done --- and Soap!

I really like this block (sorry, it's a bit blurry).  It is visually striking and
"This block has a bit of history to it as it is designed after a portion of the Oklahoma City National Memorial."    It is simple but meaningful.  I was catching up, this is the April Block.
Another relatively simple but striking block.  This is May, so I'm caught up on one BOM now.

January through April, the block with the prints seems to stick out a bit, but there are more blocks coming so we will see.

I love my battery operated soap dispenser, but couldn't stand the price of the refills, so I got the idea to order a wine stopper from Amazon and cut a hole in the soap.  It was much tougher to do than I thought and I'm lucky I didn't enjure myself, as I used scissors, paring knives and box cutter.  It is jagged and if I were to do it again, I'd try some kind of saw if one was available to me.  Anyway, I love my glass rooster, he goes right along with my kitchen, and it is nice to just put sticky kitchen hands underneath and let the electric eye handle it for you.  (The frog needs a good washing, but he holds scrubbers and reminds me of DH, so he will always have his place on the sink.)  Now my soap is refillable, and I can enjoy the savings.
I love my Rowe Stoneware too, though, so I have to keep the old fashioned type on my sink still.   We are either extra clean, or extra dirty.

March OKC Modern Quilters BOM

This one was a surprise.  January and February blocks were all solids and when I saw March with all the prints it didn't compute in my brain, but I pulled out my prints and this is what I came up with.  Now I'm wondering what the next 9 blocks will be like.

Last BOM for February

I don't live in OKC I just saw it on the internet and since this seems to be my "year of the BOM" I thought I'd give it a go.  I don't think that I quite have the idea of Modern though.

Another BOM and RSC - Pink

This is the January Block of the OKC Modern Quilters Guild I think that it was supposed to finish at 12.5 x 12.5, but I came up short on the sides and had to trim it to 12 x 12.  Oh well, I'll deal with it in the coming months when I see how I mess up then, lol.

I decided that it would be better to try to make 3 blocks a month for Angela's ScrapHappy Saturday, Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2013, so I added the block on the bottom.   That would yield 36 blocks and a 72 x 72 quilt to start with and I can go from there with borders.  Or I could go 5 x 7 and a 60 by 84 to start with.  I have almost a whole year to decide.

01-11-2013  While I was in the pink, I thought that it would be fun to do some little 16 patch blocks.  To me they are versatile blocks and hopefully, I'll come up with something rainbowy by the end of the year.
I know a lot of people don't like pink, but I've decided that pink makes me happy.
I'm still short one block that I hope to do this year, it's the Civil War quilt on Craftsy "Repiecing the Past", with Kaye England.  I have tried to watch the video 3 or 4 times now, she's very interesting, but she is very detailed.  I have tried to wait until after watching TV with my husband and then watch it on my Ipad.  Big mistake, I keep falling asleep.  Today, after DH's doctor appointment, maybe I'll watch it on my computer, get the block done, and then back to my Scrap Vomit and my Easy Street.  It would be nice to start the year off with two pretty new quilts for the beds in my home.
It's time again for Angela's ScrapHappy Saturday - Dresses in Pink Make Boys Wink - Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2013.  Go here to see more.
