2 Flimsys

Last year I took part in the Flower Patch Quilt Along, and got all my flowers done, but recently I saw a niece that I hadn't made quilts for her entire family.  I made 3 quilts for her family, but I saw her this past week-end and offered to fill in the gaps.  The original quilt called for 17 flowers, and it made one quilt.  Since I have about 6 quilts to do, I decided to make one into two.  These are the result, with some obvious fillers.

I need 3 girl quilts, 2 boy quilts, and maybe one more.   These two are for her daughters and I still need one for her fiance's daughter.  I have one quilt finished that I made for a boy quilt a year or so ago, and another top finished.  Those will take care of her son (my nephew) and her fiance's son.   This past week-end we went to a family bar-b-Que at my nephews and I gave my brother one of the Celtic Solstice quilts, he was 'not' overwhelmed, but it was mostly for warmth, and it does look better than the blanket that was on his bed.   I still have the other, and I'm thinking of giving it to my niece (I gave her a quilt a few years ago).  It has the Gator colors in it that were in the quilt that I recently made for her fiance, so it will blend.  That would just leave her fiance's daughter, and I'm thinking a simple quilt like maybe a strippie.
I'm working away, and will soon have a basting and quilting marathon.  I'll have 5 quilts to do, including my barn quilt.  I'm hoping to finish by mid march, my nieces are supposed to be coming for my granddaughter's baby shower, and I can give them then.  It'll save a good bit of shipping.

Seventeen of Seventeen

It's nice to have the flowers finished, now on to frames and borders.  Not too far away from having a quilt top.

Fourteen out of Seventeen

There are other things that I should be working on, but these are cut out, and morning is the time I'm best at cutting out.  Mornings have been busy, so I take the easy way.  This was my last one with leaves and a stem, the last 3 are just flowers.

Nine and Ten, I Think and......

I think that this is blocks nine and ten of the Flower Patch Quilt Along, plus the five leaf blocks.   I believe there are seventeen total flowers, and they are already cut out, so I am moving along on this one.   Should be moving along on other things, but what the hay.

Eleven and Twelve, too.

Catching Up!

Catching up, I may even be an overachiever now in my Flower Patch and Quilty Barn quilt alongs.  I think that I have more blocks done than I need on the Flower Patch quilt along, and I have the small blocks done on the Quilty Barn along, and when I finish 2 more barns I'll be caught up.  There will still be some month left, so I'll probably work on a small quilt for my husband's dresser top, or work a little bit on my Scrappy Lattice.  Today, I did finish these 2 blocks, but I spent most of the day driving back and forth to St. Augustine for lunch with my brothers, my nephew, my daughter and her husband, and my grandson and granddaughter.  It was a nice day.   My husband wasn't feeling very well, but he went along with me, which I appreciated.

Out of the Barn and Back to the Flower Patch

I went ahead and did the 5 leaf blocks so that I could sew the last row onto the flower.    I haven't sewn down the rick rack, will probably wait until all 5 are done so I only have to change the bobbin one time.   I lost some of my points on these.  I had changed to my regular foot and forgot to change back to my 1/4 inch foot.  I guess another senior moment.  I consider myself a lazy perfectionist, an energetic perfectionist would have fixed it, but since I'm a lazy one, I decided that I can live with it, and if I do give it away, probably it won't even be noticed.

More Flower Patch Blocks

My 3rd and 4th Flower Patch blocks.  It's going to be wild and crazy, but cheerful.

The first four.  I think I'm going to like this quilt.  It'll have rick-rack too, and rick-rack always reminds me of my mother.  I don't think our budget would allow fancies, like lace, but she could squeeze in a little bit of rick-rack to cheer things up.  The already made memories will make me like the quilt even better.

Progress - Ain't Always Purty

I've got all my flowers for Flower Patch sorted now, but it still isn't a thing of beauty.  Sometimes pretty has to go through a homely stage before it gets where it's going, and my Flower Patch quilt has a long way to go.   I can't wait to get a block together, but progress was delayed by a call from my Grandson to see if we wanted to go to a movie with him and the Great-Grandson.  We saw Epic, and even though it wouldn't have been my first choice (I'm not too much in to animated) it was very cute.  We went to Chic-Filet after that, and are just getting home.  The mess in my house was waiting, so I guess that if I want to get to "Purty" I'd better get going.

Green Fairy Quilts Flower Patch Quilt Along

This doesn't look like much, but it took me hours.   My feet and my back are hurting and I'm tired, lol.  "The old gray mare she ain't what she used to be", for sure.   I don't think I missed anything, so my Flower Patch quilt is all cut out now.   That's two that I have completely cut out, this and my Scrappy Lattice, which I will get back to.

Hopefully, my Flower Patch quilt will look something like this, but since my background is light pink, I guess it will be less yellow and more pink.   I decided to use that fabric even though I'm using it for my Sugar Block Club-Craftsy BOM 2012, as the fabric is such a bargain, and I do like it.  It is 8 yards for fifteen something, plus shipping.  Can't beat that these days.   I had in mind to do part 2 of Deck-ade the Halls today, but I got up really early (3:30am) for some reason, and it wasn't up yet so I started on this and I'm compulsive, I wanted to get it finished.  Tomorrow for cleaning this place and doing step 2.
Both quilt alongs are just getting started if you need a new project, lol.
