Misc.

It's uber busy, but I'm getting used to it.  I was thinking of sashing, but have about decided to go with it as is, with a bit of shifting of blocks.  I find that as I put it together, careful as I can be, they seem to still shift themselves a bit anyway though.

A crude facsimile of the difference with sashing.  I am stubbornly sticking to Santa's way though, I do believe.

We ate dinner with Hailee and her mom and sister (among others) the other night and I promised her a hanging for her door.. She gave me some specs, and this is what I ended up with, it's about 9 inches by 11 inches.  She's a Bruins fan, and so wanted some black, white and yellow and this was all I could find.   Hailee is 6.  We were on the way home from seeing Alan Jackson at Sea World, and he was outstanding.

I have 3 queen sized beds, and want to have 3 Christmas quilts.  I have my Iowa Christmas (Carolina Christmas Mystery), and now I'll have my Santa Blocks when it is finished.  Today, I got a start sewing together my leftover strips to make a rail fence.  I was planning to do sashing for it, and have fabric ordered from Connecting Threads clearance, but if I have enough leftovers, I may just go without the sashing.  I'm hoping to make my house look Christmasyer, with a minimum of decorating.

More Santa Blocks

Set 2 from my 5 sets of boo boo blocks.  Set 10 of all.

Set 3 from my 5 sets of boo boo blocks. Set 11 of all.
The original, and set 1,2, and 3 of my boo boo blocks.  Not too bad, still look scrappy, not too matchy matchy, I think.  But, just in case, I ordered some more sale Christmas fabric from Hancock's of Paducah to use for my last 12 of 90 blocks.  Hopefully, I'll have enough left, with what I already have and what I have ordered, to make a third Christmas quilt.  I have 3 queen sized beds, and would like one for each.  I have my Iowa Christmas, from Bonnie Hunter's Carolina Christmas mystery, so I'm getting there.

Santa Blocks

I did my math, and to do a queen sized, I need 90 blocks.  Since I'm not swapping I decided to do a set 1 and set 2 each month with different colors.  Amy, the girl who's running the swap (which I'm not doing) said no she'd give me the list of blocks so I didn't have to do duplicates.  I'll still keep this months duplicates, and then switch to Amy's list.

Amy, has put lots of time into this swap-sew along, and she is the mother of twin baby girl toddlers.  I wanted to say thank you, so I made a set of blocks for her.  These are from her master plan, 3 from month 10 and 3 from month 11.   I've made 18 blocks in the past week, but now will take a break from quilting, as I have my brother coming this weekend, and friends coming the latter part of February.  I think it's time to do some housework.

Santa's Quilt Sew Along

Oops, I guess I shouldn't text while sewing.

Supposed to do 6 blocks a month.  This is before I got the arch's sewn on.

My 6 blocks are finished.
And Santa is working on his version of our sew-along quilt.  The sew-along is with Facebook group Friendship Quilting Group.
