Nabby's Dowry Two Done

This is what was left before Nabby's Dowry Two.

Not pretty, but not too bad, and free.

This is all the binding scraps that I have left now.  I did have a large magazine basket smashed down with batting scraps and a large very full garbage bag sitting on top of it full.  I'm rather proud of myself, that's 14 bags, 2 small quilts, and I think I can get another bag or two.

Not a good picture, but it's done and it's a little busy, but I think it's going to have a place on my wall.

Mackenzie's Dolly has a Quilt

And it's very very pink.

Even the back.  Mackenzie's favorite color is pink, I hope her dolly's is, too.
31 inches by 31 inches.  Probably 30 x 30 after it's washed.

Nabby's Dowry Top No. 2

Still a bit wild and crazy, but I like it.

Nabby's Dowry Top No. One

Mackenzie's doll quilt is a top now.  I'm very happy with the pattern, it was fun to do and it turned out cute.  The colors aren't true here, it is cuter in person, and it's a good thing that Mackenzie's favorite color is pink.   I hit some snags with the side and corner triangles, as I had made a little smaller version (5 1/2 inch blocks instead of 6 1/2) and I had to redo them, but with the help of a couple or three or four websites, I figured it out.   I've only done two other quilts on point, and they were Bonnie Hunter mysteries, and I stuck to her sizes, so I just followed directions.  I'm a little wiser now, lol.   Hope Mackenzie and her dolly like it.
PS   I hope my wild and crazy version turns out as cute.

Nabby's Dowry Step Eleven of Twelve

Surprise, this step had 4 blocks, so there are thirteen now.  Anxious to see the reveal on Friday.

Kathy of Kathy's Quilts has an interesting guess of the reveal.  It's very pretty.   http://kathysquilts.blogspot.com/2013/09/design-wall-monday.html

Nabby's Dowry Getting Close to The Big Reveal

The ninth block of Nabby's Dowry.  I think probably the last one, there are two more steps left, but I imagine that they are sashing and borders.

Mackenzie's nine dolly quilt blocks.

And their evil twins for my wallhanging.

Nabby's Dowry is part of Pam Buda's Heartspun Quilts Pocket Patchwork Sew Along series.  Here is one of the previous ones, and below is another.  I'm sure she'll come up with something cute for this one, too.   This one is Forget Me Not here.

This one is Busy Work, lots more to see here.

Nabby's Dowry Block 8

Block 8 of Nabby's Dowry, mine on the left and my great-granddaughter's doll quilt on the right.  Wilder sure makes a difference.

My great-granddaughter, Mackenzies, 8 blocks for her doll quilt.  Can't wait to see what the next two installments bring.

Nabby's Dowry Blocks' Seven

Not much sewing going on, but this one is easy to keep up with since it is just little bonus HSTs.  The hardest part is finding enough that aren't the same colors.  I haven't finished my August BOM's yet, but I think that even though I'll fall behind, I'm going to concentrate on getting a simple Fall-Halloween-Thanksgiving quilt and wall hanging done first.  I'd like to have them done before the first of October, so I'll have more to show than good intentions, lol.

Nabby's Dowry Block 6

Block 6 of Nabby's Dowry.  On the left the controlled scrappy for a doll quilt, and on the right the wild anything goes scrappy for my wall hanging.

Block 1 thru 6 of the doll quilt.

Lights

Nabby's Dowry Sew Along Block 5.  Good advice would be to turn on the lights when pinning, especially when pressing seam open.   Bad center.

Gators and Dowrys

I started it Monday and I finished today, Friday.   It's an easy quilt, but still not too bad.   Sorry, it's upside down.  It's big, almost twin size.  I tried some new batting that I got half price at Joanns, plus 25% off.   $30.00 batting for a little over $11.00, not bad.  It is Pellon brand cotton batting and I really liked it.  It's very flat, and very uniform and sturdy.  I'm wondering if it will fluff a bit when it's washed.

I used the leftover fabric on the back, so it's almost reversible.

Four blocks down, and probably a fifth one done tomorrow.  These go quick, since I'm using leftover bonus HSTs.

Sugar Block Club and Nabby's Dowry

My niece and her children arrived yesterday, it was very good to see them, and we are going to Ikea today, so not much sewing will be going on for the next couple of days, but I did get my Sugar Block club for July done with a couple of days to spare.

This morning I got up early, as I do most mornings, and I did block 3 of the Nabby's Dowry quilt along.  Here are blocks 1, 2, and 3 all in a row.  I feel so virtuous when I am using up my bonus HSTs.

A Week Off

Really not much on the sewing front.  I've thought a lot about it, but all I've actually done was this block 2 for the Nabby's Dowry sew along from Heartspun Quilts.   I'm really looking forward to this little quilt (wall-hanging), as I am excited to use up some of my little bonus HSTs.

I have done a few dishcloths, or as I call them "Sweat Sweaters", as my daughter and I use them as feminine glisten gleaners at the gym we've joined.  A friend told me that her mother told her "horses sweat, men perspire, and ladies glisten".   I'm not much of a knitter, but I've enjoyed doing them while my husband watches his Red Sox.   It's kind of nice to switch between watching with him, going on my ipad and knitting.  I should add a fourth category, dozing off.

One of my grandsons passed his real estate test this week, so a few of the family went to a sushi restaurant for lunch.  Three of my grandsons are in the picture, but it's not a very good angle.  My husband wore the hat to protect his head, the bandage is also protecting his recent skin cancer bout and keeping the bandage on.  No offense to you Yankee fans, but he was given the Yankee hat as a joke from a Yankee fan and he has been wearing it during his healing process so that if he messes up a hat, it won't be a Red Sox one.  The restaurant was so empty when we went that we felt like we had a private room.

My dinner before digging in.  It was pretty tasty, but not as good as the company.  As you can see, I'm not authentic, I can't seem to master chopsticks, but I do think that they are handy sewing tools.

Second Teal Week Rainbow Scrap Challenge and Nabby's Dowry Sew Along

My July teal kaleidoscope block.  And below, my bonus kaleidoscope block from June and July leftovers.

July's scrappy trip along block.  I really am enjoying the teal and  turquoise.  (Below)

This evening we went to a local club with my daughter,  her husband, a grandson and his friend, a grandson and his wife and son, and we all listened to another grandson and his band perform.   (My grandson is the red head with the guitar.)   They get better each time we hear them and I think they are really good.   They are on a small stage in the middle of the bar surrounded by liquor bottles. I think I'd be too nervous to play afraid that I'd fall.

I've been accumulating bonus HST's from my Deck-ade the Halls, Quilty Barn Along, and especially the Flower Patch Quilt Along.  They are only 1 1/4 inch finished, and I was wondering what I would do with them.  Along came a post on Kathy's Quilts and lo and behold, lots and lots of HST's, hers are 1 1/2 inch finished, but my 1 1/4 inchers will just make a smaller quilt, 30 by 30 inches if my figures are correct.  Just a nice size for a wall quilt.  The Nabby's Dowry Sew Along is here on Heartspun Quilts.

Here they are, I think I'll have plenty.  You'd think with all these that I wouldn't have had any duplicates in my little block.  I'll use the excuse that I was doing this at 3:00 am.  Even in broad daylight my brain doesn't always function well.  3:00 am is very iffy.

I thought originally that the HST's were 1" finished, but I guess that they are 1 1/4" finished.
