Splash Park and TeJay's Babies Quilt

We have a new splash park in our town, and here is one of my great-grandbabies enjoying it.  She isn't quite walking yet, but it won't be long.

Wish we'd had these when my kids were little.

Thirty-six fussy cut blocks ready to go for a baby quilt for my brother and sister-in-law's new great-grandbaby.

We got cute fabrics, but as I worked on it,  I kept feeling like it just wasn't scrappy enough for me.  My sister-in-law went fabric shopping with me, she isn't so much in to scrappy.  Hope she likes this one.

Fussy cutting definitely takes more time and fabric.  I hope to maybe get a baby pillowcase from the leftovers, but that will take care of 2 yards.

A New Top

This isn't the one, but I got the little cart and put it together myself.  Not perfect, and my hands hurt, but it's done and it looks just like this on the outside.  The inside, a couple extra holes, but not too bad.

My Scrappy Christmas Rail fence is a top now.  I hope that when it is finished it looks Christmasy.

Misc.

It's uber busy, but I'm getting used to it.  I was thinking of sashing, but have about decided to go with it as is, with a bit of shifting of blocks.  I find that as I put it together, careful as I can be, they seem to still shift themselves a bit anyway though.

A crude facsimile of the difference with sashing.  I am stubbornly sticking to Santa's way though, I do believe.

We ate dinner with Hailee and her mom and sister (among others) the other night and I promised her a hanging for her door.. She gave me some specs, and this is what I ended up with, it's about 9 inches by 11 inches.  She's a Bruins fan, and so wanted some black, white and yellow and this was all I could find.   Hailee is 6.  We were on the way home from seeing Alan Jackson at Sea World, and he was outstanding.

I have 3 queen sized beds, and want to have 3 Christmas quilts.  I have my Iowa Christmas (Carolina Christmas Mystery), and now I'll have my Santa Blocks when it is finished.  Today, I got a start sewing together my leftover strips to make a rail fence.  I was planning to do sashing for it, and have fabric ordered from Connecting Threads clearance, but if I have enough leftovers, I may just go without the sashing.  I'm hoping to make my house look Christmasyer, with a minimum of decorating.

More Santa Blocks

Set 2 from my 5 sets of boo boo blocks.  Set 10 of all.

Set 3 from my 5 sets of boo boo blocks. Set 11 of all.
The original, and set 1,2, and 3 of my boo boo blocks.  Not too bad, still look scrappy, not too matchy matchy, I think.  But, just in case, I ordered some more sale Christmas fabric from Hancock's of Paducah to use for my last 12 of 90 blocks.  Hopefully, I'll have enough left, with what I already have and what I have ordered, to make a third Christmas quilt.  I have 3 queen sized beds, and would like one for each.  I have my Iowa Christmas, from Bonnie Hunter's Carolina Christmas mystery, so I'm getting there.

Picture Overload

I have been very busy sewing, putting in 8 to 12 hour days for the last 5 or 6 days, these items are what I have to show for it.  Seems like there should be more, lol.  This is a smaller version that I winged as I went, of the Temple bags from My Quilt Diet's blog.  It's for my 5 year old granddaughter for an overnight type bag.s f

The smaller versions front and flap.

Her Mama, Marcy's full sized version.

Marcy's back.

Marcy's inside and flap.

A comparison of the two sizes.

Mine.  I keep giving mine away, maybe this one will stick.

The back of mine.

And the inside and flap of mine.

My visiting teacher Becky's back.

Becky's inside and flap, I seem to have lost the picture of her front momentarily.

A Spider Man and Marvel heroes travel pillowcase for my 2 year old grandson.

My grandson is visiting his brother, another grandson, in Germany and he informed me that his girlfriend will be traveling with him and having a birthday while they're gone.  This is a gift for her, a large bag with 10 pockets and a zipper top.  Hopefully, handy while traveling.

A totebag for the 2 year old.

Zipper pouches for the 5 year old great-granddaughter, and the 2 year old great-grandson.
The insides.  Spider man and Paris.  While the visit is going on, they plan to all visit there.
And the missing front.  These Temple bags are pretty labor intensive, thus the hard day's labor.
